SLIPSTREAM CANOE GUIDES 2013 trips and events

After a long and protracted winter with some very cold, gloomy, wet and windy conditions let's hope for some sun and warmth soon! For sceptics amongst you I can confirm that the sun does exist as I saw it for about ten seconds earlier this week!

We have a number of trips and events planned for the season and these are shown below. There will be others added as the year unfolds so check this page for updated information. Each event will be briefly described and further and more comprehensive details can be given if you contact us directly either by phone or e-mail.

We are planning to canoe in various locations this season, each with its own special interest and attraction. As always there will be something on offer for all lovers of the Great Outdoors! Trips will be mainly aimed at novice canoeists but will often offer a challenge to more experienced paddlers. We are planning day trips, weekend breaks and extended trips in France.

We are also available to take group/party bookings for social events and offer guided river trips and advice. We specialise in assisting charities, school events, riverside barbecues, corporate events and moonlight evening paddles! Feel free to contact us with your requirements.

We look forward to seeing you out on the water this year!

Adrian and Graham

P.S. many of our trips are already being booked!!

Sunday 24 March CHILLY CHERWELL. River Cherwell through Oxford and colleges. 11 AM start. Our first trip of the year so far. Seven paddlers faced a bracingly cold wind with a strong flow of water in the quite swollen river. However, daffodils crocuses and snowdrops in evidence; a great trip!

Saturday and Sunday 4+5 May River Thames Hurley camping weekend. Does camping out in the middle of a river on your own island float your boat? How about a blend of paddling in open canoes, riverside walks, wildlife spotting, convivial conversation, and atmospheric local pubs.

7- 14 of September The Morbihan (camping or B&B) The Gulf of Morbihan is a large expanse of tidal water in southern Brittany. There are many attractive beaches, some sandy, some rocky and dozens of islands. Some islands are large enough to have village settlements, others are just large lumps of rock but these can make the perfect picnic place or evening barbecue spot and can be visited by canoe. Great canoeing on strongly tidal waters.

21/22 September River Wye. A classic two-day trip from Ross on Wye to Monmouth taking in Symonds Yat rapids! One of the best easy canoeing rivers in the UK fabulous scenery and full of interest. Includes coaching techniques for handling canoes on moving water.
